June 7th, 2015 National Cancer Survivor Day®
It’s time to bring out the banners, balloons, eat cake for breakfast, and do a “happy dance!” This is a special day of Life’s Joyous Celebration and Jubilation!
National Cancer Survivors Day® is an annual, treasured celebration held in hundreds of communities nationwide, and around the world, on the first Sunday in June.
It is a day for everyone, whether you’re a cancer survivor, a family member, friend, or medical professional. It is a day to gather with loved ones — sharing the beauty of life’s blessings!
This special day offers the opportunity for all people living with a history of cancer – including America’s more than 14 million cancer survivors – to connect with each other, celebrate milestones, and recognize those who have supported them along the way.
Living life to its fullest is the greatest victory over any challenge that might be thrown our way. During our life’s journey we may encounter what might seem insurmountable odds. These are simply hurdles to leap over with wings of strength, soaring into the new adventures around the corner!
Take the time to see the beauty around you. Slow your pace just a little and breathe in your life. I promise you, the cell phone can go unanswered, the extra stop you want to make on the way home can wait, and the world will continue to revolve without you for a few moments!
Give yourself the biggest present of celebrating your survival: living. It is simple. It’s the perfect gift that doesn’t need any special wrapping or fancy bows.
Look in the mirror. The smiling face is yours!
